On Tuesday 12th March 2019, Bridge House took 5 pupils to the Champions league knockout tie (second leg) between Manchester City and Schalke at the Etihad stadium, Manchester.
Upon arriving at the ground, we went for tea at the local the McDonalds just opposite the stadium.
After tea we made our way to the Match day Programme kiosk, where the pupils and staff bought a programme each. We then had a browse around the club shop – The pupils bought souvenirs (Scarves, pin badges, posters, hats)
We then had a look around the fan zone, where there was a live band on stage, a big screen with live pre match information about the teams. Activities, such as head table tennis, keepie up challenge and FIFA kiosks.
The pupils decided that they wanted to go into the stadium early to find our seats and watch the teams warm up. In the stadium, we found that the atmosphere was very friendly, the club provided big flags for the pupils to wave in the build up to the game.
First half of the match we saw Man City go 3-0 up with goals from Aguero x 2 and Sane, the pupils were in awe and couldn’t believe they were only 100m away from these players.
The second half, Man City were shooting at the goal that we were sat behind, we had a very good view of a further 4 goals from Sterling, B.Silva, Foden and Jesus.
At the end of the match, the pupils had an opportunity to go to the first row and take some photographs next to the pitch.
Overall, the pupils were absolutely fantastic throughout the trip and everyone had an amazing time. I look forward to the next football trip.
“I enjoyed the trip very much. It was a fantastic game with seven goals scored! Certainly worth the effort I had to put in together on the trip- well organised!”- DT
