Bridge House Independent School Spring Parents and Carers evening.

This year, Bridge House Independent School hosted two parent and carer evenings across the week beginning 14th January 2019. These were held on Tuesday 15th and Thursday 17th January, with appointments starting from 4pm through until 7pm.

Our aim was to make the evening as accessible to all as possible, and therefore siblings and other family members were welcome to attend as well as pupils. Staff were be available throughout the evening to guide parents and carers around the building and introduce them to the various members of our growing team of specialist practitioners.

New to this year, we also had representation from Boston College, who were on hand to give advice to pupils, parents and carers on their Post 16 aspirations, destinations and concerns. Boston College work with us to help promote a smooth and easy transition from our setting into Mainstream college for all our pupil. This can be an incredibly daunting time for our pupils, causing anxiety and stress. With this in mind, our plans to include college representation at our open evenings is one step on the way to reducing these stresses and helping our pupils become confident learners outside of our school.

In addition to Boston College, we will also had our Foster Carer Champion, Tracy Chapman in attendance for both evenings. Tracy has been working with our school on building relationship with our Foster carers and diminishing the gap between care and education. We also collaborate on the Caring2Learn initiative, alongside Tracy, to develop our provision and practice. Here at Bridge House we strive to provide a platinum service for all our children and their carers’. Tracy will be available on both evenings to offer help and advice to all our carers on a range of issues from transitions to financial concerns.

Please do come along to future evenings and take advantage of the services on offer for you.

If you are unable to attend the parents and carers evening, staff at Bridge House will eb happy to provide you academic updates through a telephone call, please call the office to if you would benefit from this.
